What a Full Car Detail Actually Means
A full car detail in Morris County, NJ is the complete interior and exterior treatment, not a wash with a quick vacuum. It takes 2 to 4 hours and covers every surface the car has. GNG Auto Detail is a mobile team based in Cedar Knolls, and we bring everything to your driveway so you don't have to arrange a drop-off or a ride.
The full detail is the right choice when a car hasn't been detailed in over a year, when both the interior and exterior need real attention, or when you want a complete reset: a car that looks, feels, and smells like it just came off the lot. It's also the most common pre-sale service we do. A well-detailed car shows a lot better, and that can change what a buyer is willing to pay.
Every full detail is quoted individually, based on the size and condition of the vehicle. We don't do flat rates that ignore what your specific car needs.
We're based in Cedar Knolls, in Hanover Township, and we serve Morristown, Parsippany, Madison, Chatham, Florham Park, East Hanover, Whippany, Denville, Morris Plains, Mountain Lakes, Boonton, and every other town in Morris County. When you book, we come to you.

When a Full Detail Is the Right Call
Annual or biannual reset. Most Morris County drivers book a full detail once or twice a year. Spring (after winter salt damage) and fall (before winter sets in) are the two most popular windows. The full detail clears out the salt residue, treats any odors that built up, and protects the paint before the next season starts.
Pre-sale or trade-in. A detailed car shows a lot better than one that's just clean. Buyers notice the smell the second they open the door, and clean carpet and seats tell them the car was taken care of. We do a lot of pre-sale details for Morris County residents trying to get the most out of a trade-in or a private sale.
New vehicle. A full detail on a newly purchased used car is a one-time reset that cleans the previous owner's habits out of it. Sit in a car that's been fully extracted and steam-cleaned and it feels different from one that's just been vacuumed.
After a life event. A new baby, a new dog, or a kid who finally outgrows the booster seat and leaves years of crumbs behind. These are the moments when a full reset makes more sense than ongoing spot cleaning.
What Happens on Full Detail Day
We arrive with everything. A full mobile detail in Morris County takes a generator, water supply, extraction equipment, steam cleaner, foam cannon, pressure washer, and several product kits. We load and haul all of it to your driveway or parking area. You don't need a hose hookup or a power outlet. We bring our own.
Interior first. We start inside because interior products need time to work. The carpet extraction goes down, the leather conditioner sits, and the odor treatment does its job while we move outside. By the time the exterior is done, the interior has had time to dwell and gets a final wipe-down and inspection.
Exterior sequence. Pre-rinse, foam cannon, two-bucket hand wash, rinse, clay bar on the paint, rinse, dry, spray wax or sealant, wheel faces, tire dressing, exterior glass. That's the full sequence, nothing skipped. Clay bar is in there because it pulls off the bonded contamination (tree sap, industrial fallout, brake dust) that a wash alone won't touch.
Time commitment. Plan on 2 to 4 hours. Some vehicles take 4 to 6 hours: larger SUVs, vehicles that haven't been detailed in several years, or ones with heavy pet hair or staining. We'll give you an honest time estimate when you book, based on your vehicle and its condition. You don't need to be around for the whole job. Most customers check in once or twice and let us work.
What you get at the end. We walk the car with you so you can check every area before we pack up. Anything look off? We fix it on the spot before we leave.
Full Detail vs. Interior-Only: Which Is Right for You?
An interior-only detail covers everything from the windshield inward: carpet, seats, upholstery, dashboard, console, glass, door panels, vents. It's the right call when the outside of your car is already in reasonable shape (no heavy oxidation, no serious paint contamination, no bird droppings that have been sitting for weeks) and the real need is inside.
A full car detail adds the complete exterior sequence on top of that: the two-bucket hand wash, clay bar, spray wax, and tire dressing. It's the right call when both the interior and exterior need real attention, when it's been over a year since your last exterior detail, or when the car is about to be seen by a buyer or photographed.
If you're not sure, tell us and we'll give you an honest recommendation. Some people think they need a full detail when an interior-only actually covers what's bothering them. Others ask for an interior detail when we can see the paint clearly needs clay bar, so we'll say so. We'd rather point you to the right service than upsell you into something you don't need.
For Morris County residents, the most common full detail scenario is a spring reset (winter salt tracked inside and stuck to the outside) or a pre-sale job. Interior-only tends to fit regular maintenance, every 4 to 6 months or so for active families or pet owners.
If you're unsure, text us a few photos of your car at 862-204-7568. We'll look at the interior and exterior and tell you honestly which service makes sense. There's no reason for us to push a full detail on you if an interior-only is all you need. We're a referral business, and an honest recommendation is what brings people back.
